This album is the love child of GNR, Shinedown, Def Leppard, Breaking Benjamin and Muse on hard rock steroids. With lyrics like, “you look better with the lights out”, you get the gist of what this album is all about.

Review In 40 Words – Sound Of Contact – Dimensionaut (2013)
The vocalist is Simon Collins, the son of Phil Collins, who also formed the band with David Kerzner. This is great prog without all the technical mastery wrapped around a concept story about a traveller of dimensions and galaxies.
Review in 40 Words – Daybreak Embrace – Tomorrow Awaits (2010)
Great EP. I just heard it today. The new album “Mercury” will be released in October 2013. I think I am overdosing on DIY modern rock artists. Think Sevendust, Staind, Digital Summer, Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace.
Review In 40 Words – The Poodles – Tour De Force (2013)
“Misery Loves Company” kicks it off, with a classic metal sound. Very surprised. They are from Sweden and they are into their 5th album release. If you want to relive the Eighties, then the first eight tracks will suffice.
Review in 40 Words – Redline – Vice (2012)
The album cover skeleton head resembles “Eddie” from Iron Maiden. Redline is from Birmingham, England. It’s a good listen and it doesn’t disappoint. Everything is kept simple and the sound is classic heavy rock/metal, however nothing stands out as memorable.
Review in 40 Words – Rain – Stronger (2006)
I am finally hearing this album today. Rain is a “supergroup” of European melodic rock/metal bands with Michael Bormann on vocals. It’s hit and miss as it tries to capture the arena rock spirit of 1986.
Review in 40 Words – Prime Circle – Evidence (2012)
From South Africa. A serious player in the rock scene. This is their 5th album (3rd on EMI) and they are showing no signs of stopping. “Time Kills Us All” is classic AOR/melodic rock. “King For A Day” is solid.
Review in 40 Words – Alter Bridge – Fortress (2013)
Brilliant album. Tremonti and Kennedy are a formidable songwriting team. This album is an extension of ABIII with extra influences added. “Fortress” solo section is worth the price of the album. “Children of The Grave” merged with “Revelation (Mother Earth)”.
Review In 40 Words – The Black Rain – Night Tales (2012)
From Italy comes another melodic rock band, with a touch of the Black Crowes. The name is generic, it is hard to find anything without the actual movie search links coming up. In the end, it’s not worth a listen.
Review in 40 Words – Jeerk – Famous (2012)
Another weird and interesting band from Sweden. Tap Dancers playing hard/melodic rock. Expect to hear certain bits in songs were they can break out the tap ala “Riverdance”. It’s got a fun feel and well worth a listen.
